Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has become a hot commodity this year with Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich all interested in signing him.
The Germany international midfielder has been in sensational form for the Bundesliga side once again this season.
The 22-year-old has scored 16 goals this season and provided 15 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for the German club.
Pep Guardiola has reportedly been in contact with the Leverkusen star to convince him to join the Premier League giants this summer.
Liverpool face tough competition to sign Wirtz
Bayern Munich are actively working to complete a deal for the attacking midfielder but it is Liverpool who have the advantage over all other clubs in the race to sign the German midfielder.
According to Anfield Watch, Bayern Munich would have to sell players first in order to afford Wirtz this summer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in a much better situation financially and they would not be required to sell players to complete a deal for the Bundesliga midfielder.
Football Transfer’s Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy spoke with Anfield Watch about what the future holds for Wirtz.
“There are a lot of reasons for him to go to Bayern Munich but there’s a hundred and fifty million reasons why he won’t go to Bayern Munich because they will have to sell players to be able to afford him to to balance the books,” Murphy said.
“Players like Kingsley Coman maybe will have to be sold or Sacha Boey or players that maybe don’t have the same sort of market value.”
“In theory, Liverpool probably could afford him without needing to sell anyone. Do you think that then does give Liverpool a bit of an advantage here?”
