Exclusive: Chelsea set to miss out on €30m-rated target as Juventus move in to seal deal

Although Chelsea are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, it appears that they’re likely to miss out on one of their targets.

It’s understood that the Blues are going in a different direction both in terms of their manager – Enzo Maresca will soon be unveiled – and their playing squad, where a younger dynamic is being sought.

Maresca may be wondering what he’s walking into, given that some of his squad will likely have either been sold already or be in the process of agreeing a deal with another club in order that Chelsea can stay on the right side of FFP.

Chelsea want Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori

CaughtOffside sources note that Bologna’s 22-year-old Italian defender, Riccardo Calafiori, has long been of interest to the club, but he is also attracting interest from the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus, Newcastle United and Tottenham.

Juventus, Inter and Chelsea have already met with Bologna and received information about the Italian player, whilst Newcastle and Tottenham have not yet made an offer despite showing interest.

That might be something to do with the player’s desire to stay in Serie A.
