Bayern Munich legend wants Aston Villa manager

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has made it clear he would love to see his old club move to appoint Aston Villa manager Unai Emery as the replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

The Bavarian giants missed out on the Bundesliga title this year as Bayer Leverkusen sprung a major shock by recently wrapping up their first ever league title victory, though Tuchel’s side are still in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Tuchel, however, is still expected to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, and it seems Matthaus would be eager to see Emery take over from the German tactician.

“I would get Unai Emery from Aston Villa now if it didn’t have to be a German-speaking coach,” he said, as quoted by Sport Witness.

“He has a lot of experience and also has international titles. Emery speaks perfect English, would bring a breath of fresh air and would be a new face for the Bundesliga. I think that would be good for Bayern.”

Emery to Bayern – how likely is a move?

Emery has done a hugely impressive job at Villa, and Fabrizio Romano recently made it clear to us that the Spanish tactician would be happy to stay with the club.

“Emery is fully focused on Aston Villa,” Romano told CaughtOffside.
